Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium Grant

The Pupil Premium Grant is allocated to children from low-income families who are currently known to be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) in both mainstream and non-mainstream settings and children who have been in care or “looked after” continuously for more than six months. The Pupil Premium also includes pupils eligible for FSM at any point in the last six years (known as the Ever 6 FSM measure).

Our schools use the Pupil Premium Grant to provide a range of opportunities for our children and to fund support in class to ensure that children can learn to their full potential.

Our aim is to ensure that barriers to learning are eliminated and progress can be made.  We want all our pupils to make good progress and achieve at The Hermitage Schools.

Some barriers to learning that we have identified among our pupils are as follows:

  • Emotional difficulties and lack of resilience which impacts on learning.
  • Ensuring children have the correct language and vocabulary skills to access the curriculum.
  • Ensuring that we as a school engage parents in their child’s learning.
  • Focus on ongoing professional development for all our teachers.
  • Encouraging children to have high expectations and aspirations for themselves.

Each year we set out a plan of what we hope to achieve and how we aim to do this.  This is published below.  Each year we review the impact and what has been effective.  Throughout the year we use data to monitor our pupil outcomes as well as other assessments of the children’s progress and also attitude to learning.  This enables us to adapt the plan as we go.
